The fantastic folks over at Wedding Chicks have posted some free templates for menu cards, escort cards, and gift labels. You can switch up the color of the design and have a beautiful, low-cost addition to your wedding day. They will also have thank you cards and labels on their blog on Monday.

Over the last week I took a boatload of holiday snapshots. Some artsy-fatsy, some just plain humorous. With all the rush over the last week, I thought it would be fun to take some time and put them all together to enjoy in one place. The week started off with my niece and nephews holiday concert, my gi-normous Christmas tree (that curves onto the ceiling and I hauled in and put up by myself-oh yeah), going to church and being with family, to having a little celebration with friends. I hope you enjoy a bit of my holiday season.

All I want for Christmas

The days of when we were little and could write out our Christmas list to be delivered to Santa, those were good times. For the first time in years, my family has actually asked me what I want for Christmas, and gone even so far as to request a formal list. At first I was so excited to put something together, I had a wish list going at bhphoto, and a couple of useful kitchen items I had been eyeing up thinking I would wait until the holidays to ask for them. But then I started to really think.

Thinking back to a time when I studied in Europe and all I had with me was one hiking backpack filled with enough goodies to get through four months of life. Everything was so simple, yet I had the most amazing time of my life. Climbing through an ice cave on top of the Alps, dressing up in a traditional kilt in Scotland, biking through Tuscany, and simply taking in the sites of London. When I took my worries away from home much "stuff" I had with me I felt lighter.

There was one thing I had with me that I cherished, a small album of photographs of my family and friends from home. The little album sat on my tiny self in my sparsely decorated room --right under the Fraggle Rock poster that my friend bought for me because I reminder her of a little Fraggle. That is why I love what I do, the smallest possession I had was my most important.

Sure, it is nice to get something that is thought out from a loved one, but now is about the time when I need to step back away from all of this holiday rush and just breath. So this Christmas, I could care less about what I am getting and more about what I am doing. This year I want to live in the now and enjoy the moments that make memories with my family and friends. With a week left until Christmas, I just needed to give myself a little reminder.

There is no other way to say it, these servicemen and servicewomen are simply amazing. I had the pleasure of joining them for their holiday celebration with family and friends. I ask all my blog readers to keep them in their thoughts and prayers as they ready for deployment in 2009.

American Animal Hospital ::.. Staff Photo

This little gem appeared in my mailbox late last week and it made me squeal a little with joy and a prominent place on my refrigerator (and hopefully everyone notices that it trumped the Domino's coupon). Sure, lots of holiday cards are going to start popping into my mailbox in the next few weeks, but this one was special.

Regular blog readers out there may remember my little pumpkins Skye and Oxford, the reason being a cat lady is not such a bad thing. For any pet parent, finding the best vet can be a difficult process. I am fortunate because I adore my veterinarians and their staff at the American Animal Hospital. That is why this fall when the folks there asked me to capture a staff picture for their holiday cards, including their four-legged pals I did a little happy dance.

For folks who have done any pet photography, you know they are not the most focused on helping to take fantastic photographs, but I think we found a shot that captured everyone at their best. And now that the ground is covered with snow, those fall leaves are looking a lot more appealing.
