Father - Daughter Dance {Sneak Peak}

Father Daughter Dance

Fathers are such a special thing. The wedding day is the one time that a girl may actually see him shed a tear and not try to hold it back. Fathers come in all shapes and sizes, but the ones that get me the most, are the soft spoken ones who simply cannot hold back their emotions when they see their daughter in her wedding gown for the very first time. The fathers who have watched their little girls grow into beautiful, strong women, and from their very first breath take his breath away.

I love the fathers, who let me eat dinner with them at receptions as if I am apart of their family and whisper how special his daughter is, laugh with her in her joy during the dinner speeches, and smile fondly at his new son. And I adore fathers who take their daughters onto the dance floor and twirl her around so fondly and does so without inhibition as if no one is looking on. It is simply he and she together and alone on that dance floor, just like when she was little playing in their living room that she was the princess and he was her father, the king.

I took several photos of Melissa and her father dancing on the floor during their dance together, but I loved this one when I turned off the flash and just let their silhouette tell their story one more time.

  2. I'm such a sucker for the dad/daughter moments.

    And random question, was that photo taken in a building with a giant cow on the roof?

  3. Nice catch Steph, it absolutely was. Romy's in Black Creek -- a favorite from when I was a kiddo and my family would go there all the time for Friday fish fry
